Authorities recently have focused on the Chambers Bridge Road store, which police Sgt. James Kelly called "a hotbed of suspicious activity."

John Shipley, 37, was found by police the night of Jan. 28 parked in the rear parking lot of the store with his pants down and genitalia exposed, Kelly said. He was released on a summons charging him with lewdness.

In another vehicle in the lot that drew police attention, the sergeant said, police found driver Michael Gachineiro, 42 of Brick, with methamphetamine, pot and a metal pipe with meth residue and passenger Christopher McGuckin, 27 of Holmdel, with pot this past Monday. Gachineiro was sent to the Ocean County Jail and McGuckin was released after both were charged with drug offenses, he said.

Detectives investigating a report of suspicious activity on Wednesday took Luis Marrero, 59, of Brick, into custody after he offered one of them a joint, Kelly said. He was released on a summons.

The next day, police arrested Mario Boemio, 43, of Toms River, after they caught him masturbating to porn on his cell phone in a car parked in the Pleasure Zone lot. He was charged with lewdness and released on a summons.

"Police have also been in communication with the management of the Pleasure Zone about efforts on their part to dissuade people from utilizing their rear lot for such activities," Kelly said. "Some of those efforts have included increased lighting in the area, installing surveillance cameras, and signage warning would-be criminals that the area is under surveillance."
